Our great friend Joe Svoboda also visited Lincang for a few days. He was spending the summer in China doing an intensive language course. Thankfully he was able to stop by although it was slightly out of the way:).
Manon had a bit of a crush on Joe and always wanted to be as close to him as possible. I don't think he minded.
Here we are enjoying the Lincang Swimming Pool. Joe is training for an Iron Man competition and asked if there was a place to swim laps. We took him to the pool only to remember that it is school holiday so the pool was packed. Joe did not get to do many laps but found splashing all of the local children to be just as good of a work out.
Monty getting some sugar from Joe. Joe has been Monty's best friend since college when Joe convinced Monty to change his major to Asian Studies. I think Joe was just lonely in the program being one of the only guys and wanted a friend to cut up with in class. Anyway it is obvious how God has used Joe in our lives and their course of direction. We just wish Carolyn could have joined Joe on this trip - maybe next time and hopefully they will stay longer, like a few years:).
