Happy Easter!

Here they are - our lovely little girls all dressed up for Easter morning. They each received about $10 U.S. dollars that they could use to go shopping here in our small town. I was impressed with the nice dresses and baskets they bargained and bought with their money.

The Egg Hunt!

Even Judah found several eggs! Judah liked the hard boiled ones and would just bite into them and eat them while we were still hunting. He was good to spit out most of the shell.

Manon began asking what egg hunts had to do with Easter. As I was thinking through which pagan holiday Easter was celebrated around, and trying to remember the name of the goddess of fertility mixed up with the tradition, Manon came up with her own explanation. Here it is from a 5 year old. . ."the eggs represent the tomb that Jesus was in and the pieces of grass we hid the eggs in are the Roman soldiers guarding the tomb. But, the tomb is empty because Jesus rose again and is alive not living in the tomb. Mommy, why could we not empty the egg out and just use the shell - that would make it much realer."

Hope and Amanda taught the children a dance routine. My girls loved learning from them, smiled and did a fabulous performance. Judah was sure he was to perform too - he kept waking over and taking his place between Manon and Henna.

We had a great day and fabulous weather! On Monday we received the Easter package from Grandma and Papa Mowery. It contained an egg-dying kit, new Easter dresses, and "Peeps". The girls loved it! The egg dying kit would have come in handy but as I was concerned about our home-made dying job, I got out glitter and stickers - one can never go wrong in decorating for children with glitter and stickers! The girls were also excited to now have not 1 Easter dress but 2!
